Talk Radio Legislation Wednesday, June 27, 2007
Have you heard about this new talk radio legislation they are trying to pass, the fairness doctrine? Essentially if passed it would force talk radio to be regulated by the government in a way that would restrict editorial comment unless the opposing viewpoint can be heard. One of the key arguments from proponents of this legislation is that our founding fathers never could have envisioned the communication age we live in today with internet, blogging, podcasting and radio reaching millions of people. So let me get this straight, are they saying our founding fathers would never had created freedom of speech if they thought the masses would actually use it? This legislation flys completely in the face of freedom of speech and while is currently targeted at talk radio I wonder how long before they extend the principle to blogs, newspaper editorial, podcasts, or other new forms of media. This small group of people in power (Hilary Clinton and other democrats) are just attempting to silence their opposition or anyone with a differing opinion. It is absolutely absurd. What is next, forcing an equal party system for talk radio? I encourage you to research this and take action. Let your voice be heard on this issue through any communication means and networking you have the ability to influence.
New Website Monday, June 18, 2007
Among my many ongoing projects I have just completed the first few pages of the new Sen Shin Kan website. Besides a much better look and feel it will contain better and more updated information. Don't miss it at www.senshinkan.com. It may take a moment to redirect, if not click the link to take you to the new site. Since I have recently relocated to San Francisco I am very excited to develop a community of dedicated students and instructors to study and practice the martial sciences. For those of you that don't know, I left XM Radio in March to take a job with a Japanese company called Viz Media here in San Francisco. So far it is an amazing city and I feel I will really like it here.
